Between all the new editing software and terms like ‘duetting’ and ‘stitching’, you might be left lost and floundering in a sea of 90-second videos. If that’s you, then this guide is here to save you. We’ll take you through the ‘must-dos’ for authors on the app and offer you some tips and tricks to help you dive into effective content creation. The BasicsTikTok is all about making short, snappy videos using your phone camera, and then adding filters, sounds and text using the app’s editing software. There are many guides on the internet which teach you how to use all the different functions of the app.
For authors hoping to use the platform to gain a following and market their new book, there are some things they should know before getting started:

Video everything: your favourite books, your writing process, life updates… your followers want to see the whole lot! 4. Have a posting schedule Posting regularly helps you engage with your followers and build a community. Work out how often you can post and try to stick to a routine. 5.
