Who are you? Tell us a little about yourself...
From a spiritual point of view, I am a soul looking for enlightenment. As the bible says: "Many called but few are chosen" I am aware that all human beings are searching for God in their own way, but the fact is that God is within us and we have to discover Him. But this is not in our hands, either. For our ego stands between who we think we are, and God. If it is written in our destiny to meet a Saint who will show us the way to Him, inside us, not outside, then we are no more afraid of anything, such as death, because we die daily through meditation. At a physical level I am a writer from Romania. “I am” is improper, because everything that I write about is put in a scenario by God Himself, and this is happening to every human being and all of creation. He is the stage director of my life, but I only realised it at the age of around sixty. So, I am just a puppet in His hands, laughing, crying and moving forward. I am the onlooker of my own life.
What first inspired you to start writing?
He has inspired me all the way to write about my life and my mistakes so that the reader may not do the way I did. For every action there is a reaction which bears a consequence that should be paid, sooner or later. We have so many desires and cravings, but could the Lord satisfy all of them? If all our desires will be granted, especially when we are young and restless, there will be chaos in this creation.
What made you want to work with Rowanvale and be published?
I have chosen Rowanvale to work with because they are a team of young, dedicated and professional people who will help you spread your wings as far as possible for your writing to reach the audience in the best way, and who help you be satisfied by the efforts you put into the universe of your story.
When you're not writing, what are you reading?
When I’m not writing I am reading memoirs and spiritual books. These things are giving me strength, and strengthen my conviction that the world is a field of action in which we must pay attention to the repercussions.
Which work are you most proud of?
I cannot say that I am proud of all my deeds, but I consider all my works as my children, and I do not want to be a stepmother for some, and a good mother for others. In total I have eighteen distinct titles in Romanian, English and French which are posted on Goodreads. The English and French books are also on Amazon.
What's your best advice for handling writer's block?
I think that the best policy for handling writer’s block is the fathership of God and the brotherhood of writers. We have to help each other reach our goals rather than making efforts to look down on others. This should be our motto, as Camus put it “Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead. Don’t walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.”
What's one thing you always have with you when writing?
If I have my laptop and my mind is in the right mood for writing, that is when the things that shock me culminate, and I do not need anything else to start writing.
What is the one book you would take with you if you were stuck on a desert island?
If I were shipwrecked on a desert island, I would take the book “Call of the Great Master” by Daryai Lal Kapur with me and I would meditate, because meditation means letting your Master walk on the calm, blue waters of your mind and take you Home.
What is the best part about being an independently published author?
I like to write my novels or essays the way I want, without rules. Someone said, “There are three rules to writing a novel. Unfortunately, no one knows them.” When the thought that flies everywhere, through all corners of life, is laid out on paper, nothing compares to the inner contentment of having left something behind without caring about the comments of others. I think that is the biggest advantage of being a freelance writer.
What's next for you?
I would like to publish the memoir “Footbridge to Sunset”, but I have first to translate it from Romanian to English—which is not an easy job.
