St Helena Island is a British overseas territory that, until the recent opening of an airport, was the second most remote inhabited island in the world. The volcanic island is located over 1,000 miles from the nearest mainland, in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean. It is home to approximately 4,500 people and has a unique history, geology, topography, flora and fauna.

Rebel with Velvet Paws describes the adventures of one small resident as she travels around the island, meeting some of the rare and sometimes endemic creatures that live there.
