About Karen Tartaglia:
Karen Tartaglia discovered her calling as a children’s author in the most unexpected place—a hospital room. While undergoing pre-treatment for Lymphoma in December 2023, she transformed nine nights of uncertainty into purpose by etching out a plan to write on her good days and rest on her bad days, finally putting pen to paper on the story that had been brewing in her mind since the pandemic lockdowns.
Born in Reading, England, and raised across four American states before returning home, Karen brings an international perspective to her storytelling. Her professional life has been devoted to children’s education, including a degree in Early Years and Education, and a decade as a Learning Support Assistant in a local school..
The inspiration for her debut children’s book came from her daughter Kayla during home schooling, when a simple story shared on a frosty January walk sparked what would become much more. Karen’s love of storytelling--evident since childhood when her mother first suggested she become a writer after hearing her imaginative tales—finally found its voice through adversity.
Now in remission and determined to turn her experience into something positive, Karen writes from her home in England, surrounded by the family who inspired her journey from dreamer to published author. She believes in the power of stories to heal, distract, and bring joy—lessons learned first-hand during her most challenging chapter.
